FAQ’s

  • What is Back-To-Back Installation?

This applies to the installation of a split system air conditioner. If the installation is “back to back” the indoor unit is placed on the same wall as the outdoor unit reducing the amount of pipe run required to connect the two units.
  • What size unit do I need?

This is a very important question. Correct sizing of unit is determined by the size of the room, height of the ceiling, insulation in the walls and roof, the size of the windows, the direction the dwelling or room faces and the amount of people likely to occupy the area. If this is not calculated correctly you could have a unit under or oversized.
Civic Air Conditioning recommends a site visit by one of our sales experts to determine the correct size unit for your home or office.

  • What is the operating cost?

The most energy efficient method of heating and/or cooling your home or office is reverse cycle air conditioning.
Operating costs are determined by how long the air conditioning system is running and the size of the area to be cooled and heatload on the dwelling or room.
It is essential that the correct size unit is installed. An undersized unit will be significantly more expensive to run taking longer to heat and cool the area effectively.
If you have installed solar recently why not take advantage of utilising your air conditioning to its full capacity rather than a more expensive way to heat or cool your home or office.
  • What is an Inverter Air Conditioning System?

An Inverter system uses a variable speed compressor, which means the cooling or heating capacity of the air conditioning can be varied to suit indoor conditions. This makes inverter units more economical & efficient to operate as well as quieter than standard counterparts. These units will operate at a lower outdoor temperature and will bring the room to the correct temperature quicker. Inverter systems are available as wall hung splits or ducted systems.
  • How long does it take to install a new Air Conditioning Unit?

We can arrange the installation at a time convenient to you. Most residential installations of a split system generally takes 4 hours. An installation of a ducted system generally takes 1 day. If additional work is required the time frame may vary.
  • What Maintenance is required for my Air Conditioning Unit?

Air Conditioning units require regular service to prevent against untimely or expensive repair costs. Regular Maintenance or service has many benefits and while it prolongs the life expectancy of the system it also maintains its efficiency, reliability and its effectiveness.
